Design In The Dales Exhibition 2018
The creation of 'Wild Shade'.....
Inspided by working from my studio at Farfield Mill, the drive to the mill through the winding twisty roads, surrounded by rugged landscape exposed to the elements.
Created from rose fibres, foraged ivy, bramble, cow parsley and oak leaves it has a very seasonal feel.
I wanted it to feel organic although it has a structured frame underneath which had been twisted and contorted, as though it has been wind beaten. All of the natural elements were gathered form around the mill.
This image shows the piece as a work in progress. To view the finished works alongside many talented artists and designers, please visit the gallery in Nov/Dec 2018.
visit https://www.farfieldmill.org/ for opening times.
Top three images are taken at Woolfest 2017 other three are a Lampshade commission showing the fibres layed out ready yo be glued, a WI workshop and talk and a Wedding flower commission showing the dried flowers formed into a heart shape ready to be added to the fibres.
